Quinidine Sulphate is used for the treatment of irregular heartbeats as in atrial fibrillation. It is an optical isomer of quinine possessing antiarrhythmic & antimalarial properties. This compound works by acting as an intra-erythrocytic schizonticide in combination with hemozoin to prevent polymerization by heme polymerase. Quinidine Sulphate has chemical formula C40H50N4O8S with molar mass of 746.92 g/mol. it is also known to block sodium & potassium currents across cell membranes.
